Painting furniture is an art form that can transform a room and add value to your home.
Whether you’re painting a dresser, cabinets, or tables, the right paint sprayer can make all the difference.
Wagner’s paint sprayers were the very first sprayers I used, and I find myself coming back to them even after using other brands or high-end professional paint sprayers.

Best Handheld Paint Sprayer for Furniture
Wagner FLEXiO 5000
The Wagner FLEXiO 5000 is a high-performance paint sprayer designed for serious DIYers and professionals.
Its lighter weight sets it apart from the FLEXiO 3500 and Control Spray Double Duty models.
The turbine sits on the floor, so you don’t hold the motor in your hand.
Plus, it can spray thick paint without thinning, making your job easier.
The iSpray nozzle is perfect for spraying large projects like walls and fences. The Detail Finish nozzle is perfect for fine finishes that you would expect on furniture and small projects.
I love that this FLEXiO 5000 and the 3500 give you options like that!
The Pros:
- Easy to clean
- Has numerous adjustable settings
- Suitable for experts and beginners
- Has 2 nozzles (one for painting walls and fences; and one for fine finishes and furniture) and 2 cups
- Can spray thick paint without thinning
- Features X-Boost for adjustable turbine speeds
- Has 3 spray patterns (vertical, horizontal, diagonal)
- Eases handling and lessens hand fatigue
- Its container stores the hoses and nozzles
- The 11.5-foot hose is long enough for working in one room.
The Cons:
- It’s loud
- For best results, thin the paint at least 10-20% for a fine finish
- The most expensive option out of these 3 sprayers
- If you need to reach further than 11 feet, you have to move the motor
- The hose adds weight to the sprayer
- The hose isn’t super flexible so it can be annoying to work with

Best Wagner Paint Sprayer
Wagner FLEXiO 3500
The Wagner FLEXiO 3500 is one of the best paint sprayers for furniture, thanks to its unique design and features.
It is a slight upgrade from the previous Wagner FLEXiO 3000 model that I have used on many, many projects.
First, the FLEXiO 3500 is significantly cheaper than the FLEXiO 5000, making it a great option for budget-conscious shoppers.
It can also spray thick paint without thinning. So, it is a great choice for anyone looking for a high-quality paint sprayer for furniture.
I bought an expensive Fuji Q4 paint sprayer, and loved that sprayer, but the 3500 definitely rivals it! It sprays just as well in my opinion!
The Pros:
- Easy to clean
- Has numerous adjustable settings
- Budget-friendly
- Suitable for experts and beginners
- Has 2 nozzles (one for painting walls and fences; and one for fine finishes and furniture) and 2 cups
- Can spray thick paint without thinning
- Features X-Boost for adjustable turbine speeds
- Has 3 spray patterns (vertical, horizontal, circular)
- I love that it plugs into an extension cord and doesn’t have a bulky hose to lug around.
The Cons:
- It’s loud
- The cord is very short, but I guess that doesn’t matter because you plug it into an extension cord either way
- For best results, thin the paint at least 10-20% for a fine finish
- It is heavier than the FLEXiO 5000 because you have to hold the motor

Best Cheap Paint Sprayer
Wagner Control Spray Double Duty
The Wagner Double Duty model is a great option for a budget-friendly paint sprayer.
It’s the most budget-friendly of the three Wagner paint sprayers, coming in at less than $100, and it can still provide a fine finish if you thin out the paint properly.

The Double Duty comes with a viscosity cup, which helps to ensure that your paint is the right consistency. Overall, it’s a good choice for smaller furniture painting projects.
The Pros:
- Easy to clean
- Most budget-friendly
- Suitable for experts and beginners
- Has 3 spray patterns (vertical, horizontal, circular)
- Includes 2 paint cups (1 quart and 1.5 quarts)
- Comes with a viscosity cup (the other sprayers don’t need the viscosity cup!)
The Cons:
- It’s loud
- It is heavier than the FLEXiO 5000 because you have to hold the motor
- It cannot spray thick paint, so it always requires thinning
- Technically, it’s more geared towards spraying stain, but you CAN spray paint through it.
- Doesn’t have extra air power settings

In conclusion, Wagner paint sprayers are some of the best available for furniture projects.
The Flexio 5000 is perfect for professional and serious DIYers, while the Flexio 3500 offers a more budget-friendly option.
The Double Duty paint sprayer can provide an excellent finish at a lower price point for smaller jobs, but it’s slightly more work.
By selecting the right Wagner paint sprayer for your project, you can achieve excellent results and give your furniture the beautiful finish it deserves.
