Benefits of Using Lilly Moon Paint

The 3 types of Lilly Moon Paint offer various benefits that will make your furniture painting experience a breeze.

Let’s start with the Mineral Paint line, which gives you a matte finish that you can easily distress for your furniture to have a touch of vintage charm or leave as is for a modern look.

The Opulent line, on the other hand, offers a unique advantage with its built-in primer and topcoat option, making it super convenient for quick and easy furniture painting. This means you don’t have to worry about buying separate products and you can save both time and money.

And let’s not forget the Milk Paint line, perfect for creating that authentic chippy look. This type of paint is ideal for that vintage feel on furniture and home decor. The finish may be “chippy” but it’s also very durable and can last for many years.

Lilly Moon Paint also boasts an impressive color selection of over 72 colors that can match any style or aesthetic. So whether you want a bold and vibrant piece or a subtle and neutral one, you’ll find the perfect shade in this brand.

You’ll also only need 2-3 coats of paint for complete coverage – with proper priming and surface preparation, of course! With this, you can spend less time painting and more time enjoying your fabulously transformed furniture.

How to Use Lilly Moon Paint

Before you start painting with Lilly Moon Paint, make sure to give your furniture a good clean with Krud Kutter and sanding with 220 grit sandpaper. This way, the paint will stick perfectly and give you the best results.

Next, prime the surface with an adhesion primer. For light colors, use a stain-blocking primer like BIN shellac or clear shellac to prevent stains from coming through paint. Then let the primer dry overnight. The Opulent paint has a built-in primer, but I haven’t really put it to the test yet to see how effective it is in blocking stains.

Once your piece is prepped and primed, it’s time to start painting! Use 2-3 coats of Lilly Moon Paint for full coverage. For a smooth and brush free finish, you can learn how to paint furniture without brush marks here.

Once your paint is dry, seal it with a water-based polyurethane. You can either spray it or apply it by hand. For more tips on how to properly topcoat your furniture, check out our blog posts on spraying polyurethane and applying polyacrylic to painted furniture by hand.

If you’re using Lilly Moon Milk Paint, it’s pretty much like other milk paint types I’ve used before. I highly recommend that you check out our blog post on how to use milk paint on furniture! It provides step-by-step instructions, helpful tips, and everything you need to know about milk paint.

Personal Review and Experience

I’ve personally tried out Lilly Moon Paint on a couple of furniture projects. In this awesome makeover where I painted furniture with Lilly Moon Paint, I sprayed Opulent paint on this antique dresser.

I’ve also got this project where I used Mineral paint, and I was very impressed with how smooth the finish turned out, even when applied with an oval brush. Check out this Hexagon End Table Makeover to learn more.

I also really appreciate the adhesion and durability of the Mineral Paint. I painted it over raw wood that had been primed with clear shellac, and the paint held up incredibly well.

I was pleasantly surprised at how difficult it was to sand off the paint after a week! (I sanded off the paint on the top to stain the top with the Lilly Moon Paint gel stain.)

On top of that, I’ve also tried their gel stains which I found fun and easy to use. I did have a bit of a learning curve with them (true to all brands of water based gel stains, really) but once you get the hang of it, the results are beautiful.

One tip is to mist raw wood with water before applying the gel stain to prevent it from drying too quickly.

Lilly Moon Paint offers a fantastic range of paints and products that cater to different preferences and styles. Their wide color selection, durability, and ease of use make it a go-to brand for furniture painting.

Whether you’re a beginner or a pro painter, Lilly Moon Paint has something to offer for everyone.

Overall for this Lilly Moon Paint review, I gotta say, I highly recommend Lilly Moon Paint to everyone out there! It seriously works like a charm, and the color options are unbeatable!

But don’t forget to topcoat all the paints with water-based polyurethane. You can learn more about Topcoats for Painting Furniture here! It will not only protect the paint but also make it easier to clean in the long run.
