priming is always going to give you better results. I would use clear shellac or a tinted BIN primer so you aren’t going dark to white, then white to navy.

I have two end tables that I would like to paint navy blue…one is black and the other is dark brown/cherry wood. I am unsure if the navy will cover well without a primer. Do I need a primer? If yes, should I try the gray primer or can I use white, or use the clear shellac? I’m just confused how to begin. Thank you and I enjoy your blog/FB so much!!
